Check your room temperature and confirm with manufacturer whether it goes well with the laminates you purchased.

For best results you may lay down a layer of foam like polyurethane below laminates. This will cushion your floor and helps in absorbing sound. It can also help in preventing wicking up and damaging of floor. Laminate floors do not directly glue to the sub floor. The square pieces of laminates connect with each other and float above the sub floor. This allows expanding and contracting with temperature changes.

In pre-glued installation method you need to activate the glue with water as instructed and install the squares in their respective places. This method is less messy but may require some tools. Glue procedure as name implies involves gluing of laminate pieces in the proper order. In this method you may have to use fillers and wedges to tap the blocks and fill the spaces. His method could be bit messy but is very straight forward.

Glue-less method is the most advanced and latest method for installation. It uses connectors which get hooked to each other and fasten tightly on floor. Once you understand this procedure you can do it very fast with method. After installation with this method floor look very tidy and professional.

What ever method you use make sure you educate yourself and plan properly about how to install laminate flooring and you will easily and successfully complete the process and avoid many problems at the time of installation.

Let Laminate Flooring to acclimatize to your home. This can done by keeping the unopened boxes in the home where you are installing the laminates for a period of atleast 2 to 3 days. Floors may buckle if you do not do this. This is most common mistake done by most people including contractors.

Keep Gaps between laminates to accomodate contractions and expansions. There should be a gap left between walls and any other obstacles like stairs or columns. This is to accomodate for any expansion or contraction of the floor due to regular temperature changes. Floors may buckle if you do not do this.

Install vapor Barriers. If you are installing laminate flooring on a concrete slab floor where earth immediately below the concrete, a small vapor barrier should be installed between the concrete and the laminates. Never ever install laminate flooring on floors that has a drain.
