If you follow simple guidelines provided by the manufacturers fitting laminate flooring can be very easy and smooth. Now mostly all laminate flooring have click system which hooks itself in one another perfectly making it extremely easy to install. If you understand the procedure properly and have right tools at your dispense you can complete the whole process in no time.
Common tools which you require for fitting laminate flooring are: measuring tape, pencil/marker, hand saw, pulling bar, spacer mitre block and a knocking block.
If possible leave your unopened boxes of laminates in place of installation for at least 2 days. This will acclimatize the products to the environment and room temperature. If you have already purchased your products you may be finding underlay, door profiles, beading along with laminate flooring in your package.
First and foremost plan your installation. Demonstrate to yourself whether you are doing properly or not by taking a piece of underlay and one of the laminate square. Then plan what design pattern you want to follow while laying them down. Make sure you have all planks in correct numbers and a little more to accommodate any errors.
Make sure the surface upon which you want to install laminates is leveled properly this will make your fitting laminate flooring easy. If you have any old flooring or covering remove them and recheck to remove all nails etc. Clean your surface thoroughly and get rid of all obstacles like furniture, appliances etc.
If you have a concrete sub floor you need to first put damp proof membrane. This membrane has to rise up to 10mm you may roll out the sheet such that joint overlap and get sealed. Then you can roll out the underlay such that two edges of underlay meet and fit against each other. Follow other installation instruction as suggested by manufacturer properly and you should be fine.
Always start your installation from longest wall which is straight. Now lay the tongue of laminate floor boards against the edge of wall. Use pacers to align to them properly and make sure to leave at least 10mm as expansion gap. Make use of knocking block to get the joints correctly they must against each other tightly with connecters. This ensures durability and safety against wear and tear. Once you lay down three four squares you will find it easy to continue with it.
Once you complete fitting laminate flooring remove the spacer wedges. Then you must fit any door profiles you may have. Make sure you measure the door frame properly before cutting the profile so that it can fit tightly. If you use tools properly you can get a professional finish and your floor will look elegant.
